Who am I, and how did I get here?
To help gain insights about diversity in the United States, a group of journalism students at San Francisco State University explored their family backgrounds and the paths that led them to America.
The students unearthed missing family stories, forgotten photographs and historical documents, and they took advantage of DNA tests donated by Ancestry, the international genealogy research and testing service.
For the students, the assignment turned into a journey through time and history, stimulating deep reflection about their personal lives and discoveries about their connections to one another and to the world.
